What we’re about

The Austin Psychedelic Society is a local chapter of PsyT, the Psychedelic Society of Texas. Learn more here: https://www.psytexas.com.
PsyT connects individuals who aim to balance the public conversation about the utility of psychedelics for various purposes. Our interest is to foster the spread of accurate information and give a new face to psychedelia.
Through repeated online and in-person interactions, we seek to nurture community-wide conversations about the growing importance of psychedelics.
After 40+ years of misinformation, propaganda, and destructive prohibition, psychedelic substances are undergoing a re-emergence in our cultural zeitgeist.
This phenomenon has occurred in two primary spheres:
1. research for issues like PTSD, depression, addiction, and anxiety
2. within start-up and entrepreneurial circles
PsyT creates space for individuals to discuss various aspects of the psychedelic experience. Specifically, we aim to provide individuals a platform to discuss how these experiences have contributed to transformations in their personal and professional lives.
Our meetups focus on various aspects of psychedelia, including
• stories from attendees about their personal psychedelic experiences
• informal discussions about topics like a post-prohibition world, microdosing, the role of psychedelics in catalyzing social change, and much more
• talks from various leaders within the psychedelic sphere, including researchers, writers, entrepreneurs, health practitioners, and policy makers
• viewings of documentaries and discussions of psychedelic-related books
• integration circles, healing workshops, and social events
Our meetups avoid advocating for any one idea or plan of action, and instead, remain open-minded, tolerant, and adaptable. We invite you to join us for these meetings. Whether you’re an experienced psychonaut or an individual who is simply curious about learning more, PsyT is a space for you to build community with other psychedelic enthusiasts.
Important note:
Discussion of psychedelic substances is protected under the First Amendment. PsyT does not encourage illegal activities. This is not a place to seek, encourage, or participate in the procurement of controlled substances. Do not bring, buy, sell, transfer, or arrive on any illegal substances (including cannabis), or swap information on how to buy them. Any information we provide is for education and information only. This meetup is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.
Members who violate these basic house rules will be removed from the group and will not be allowed to attend future events. The emphasis for this group will be on psychedelic education, science, and policy reform. Please keep our community space safe. Thank you!
Also, in creating a space for all individuals, we encourage discretion when discussing events with other people in the community. Please do not use names of individuals who speak about their personal experiences unless explicit permission is granted. Due to the cultural stigma still attached to psychedelic substances, it is challenging enough for people to speak openly about their personal experiences.
