Thank you to Capital Factory for sponsoring the Austin Startup Meetup. Capital Factory is the center of gravity for entrepreneurs in Texas. First timers, please note:
• Capital Factory is in the OMNI building at the intersection of 7th Street and Brazos St. The building has entrances on 3 streets (7th St, Brazos St and 8th St). You can enter from any street. Do not be surprised to see a hotel inside the building. The elevators are in the middle of the lobby.
• The elevators may be confusing for first-timers. Each elevator is marked by an alphabet (A-F) that sticks above the corresponding elevator. Each elevator also has a touch panel to select the floor. Just select the 8th floor on any touch panel and it will show on the panel which elevator (A/B/C, etc.) is ready to go up to that floor. Just walk in to that elevator and get off where the doors open which will be the 8th floor.
• The Captain America room is the event room straight ahead as you enter the 8th floor.
• Feel free to walk in at any time during the event. We understand that people are busy and may not be able to make it to the events in time.
• If in doubt, always ask the people at the front desk (on any floor) for help.

Business & Revenue Models with Chris Palmisano

Capital Factory

Next to solving real-world problems, generating money is probably the most important, and one of the primary goals of most startups. Even non-profits need money to stay in business and serve their primary, more nobler causes. However, generating revenue is tough, and lack of revenue, or not enough revenue growth, is one of the most common reasons startups fail. Having a good business and revenue model will go a long way in mitigating these risks and build a strong base for growth.

In this session, we have a wonderful guest, Chris Palmisano, to help us understand how to evaluate and build good business/revenue models, and answer your burning questions.

Chris Palmisano is the CEO of iamGIS, a company providing the public and private sectors with geo-asset management and mapping solutions. Prior, he was Founding Chief Operating Officer at Rocket Dollar, a financial technology company. Previously, he held leadership roles in sales, marketing, and operations at several companies including Khorus (HR tech), SolarWinds (Enterprise IT), and Google Cloud. He is also a frequent guest lecturer, Founding Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners, and an advisor to several companies, nonprofits, and academic programs. He is a Founding Board Member for Social Venture Partners Austin and has been an adjunct professor at St. Edward's University. Chris is a former US Marine Corps officer. He holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, an MS in Information Systems from Boston University, and a BS in Information Systems from Rochester Institute of Technology. He lives in Austin, Texas.
