Hi Austin Noders!

We've got some great content lined up for you in April. We have room available for lightning talks. If you'd like to give a talk, send us a note!

Feature Talk: Aaron Blankstein – Introducing Blockstack

Blockstack is an open decentralized computing network. With Blockstack, developers can simply streamline their application code using Blockstack Auth and Storage Services. They don’t have to worry about data liability since users provide their encrypted data. Users manage their own identity across the entire ecosystem and store information in their provider of choice. Aaron joined the Blockstack engineering team from an academic background, finishing his PhD in 2017. His doctoral research spanned a range of topics, mostly focusing on web application performance and security. He’s worked in information flow tracking systems, caching algorithms, compilers, and applied cryptography. 10+ years of Emacs usage.

Lightning Talk: Justin Hunter – Building Graphite, a Secure Decentralized Productivity Suite

Blockstack isn’t a decentralized platform like other decentralized platforms. It’s better. It’s developer tools wrapped around an infrastructure you already know. By using Blockstack’s developer tools, and a little bit of JavaScript knowledge, Justin Hunter was able to take Graphite from an idea to a personal experiment to a lightly used app to a full-blown business. Justin Hunter is the founder of Graphite, a secure productivity suite. Coming from a non-development background, Justin has an MFA in Creative Writing, a BS in Business Administration, and a whole lot of hours logged on Udemy, forums, Stackoverflow, and more. He is based in Dallas, TX and is working on making Graphite the go-to alternative for those who want a secure set of tools to get work done.

Lightning Talk: Jam Risser – Inversion of Control with Loopback 4

Learn how Inversion of Control can help scale and future proof software using IBM Strongloop's innovative IoC framework. For better or for worse, the NodeJS ecosystem has changed faster than most can keep up with. This has brought about huge paradigm shifts in the way we look and think about our code. One of the more obscure paradigm shifts is Inversion of Control. IoC has historically been impossible to do correctly using JavaScript, mainly because it lacks support for interfaces. With the advent of TypeScript, IoC frameworks have begun to pop up everywhere in the ecosystem. Learn how Inversion of Control can help scale and future proof software using IBM Strongloop's innovative IoC framework.

We'll be at uShip this month. Thanks to uShip for hosting! It's going to be a great event!

See you there!
