Talk: Christopher Powell - A classical developer’s journey into quantum computing!
Description: In this talk, we’ll explore how a classical software developer took their first steps into the world of quantum computing. We’ll look at the currently available learning materials, the various paths—both formal and informal—that aspiring quantum developers can follow, and how quantum computing is becoming increasingly relevant in the Python ecosystem.
We’ll also examine the current global state of quantum computing, covering both hardware and software developments. Topics will include recent breakthroughs, key challenges, architecture trends, government involvement, and the emerging global race toward standardization and protocol development. We'll also touch on the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. Finally, we’ll speculate on what the future might hold—near and long-term—as we all prepare to embark on this transformative technological journey together.
Bio: Christopher Powell is a Senior Automations Engineer (DevSecOps) currently working in healthcare software, with a focus on AWS infrastructure. He primarily works with Python, TypeScript, and Golang.
Christopher is also a passionate quantum computing enthusiast, preparing for the coming era where quantum technologies play a major role in software development.
Antler
Antler works with founders through our signature founder residency, adding value immediately, and taking no equity up front. We receive over 160,000 applications each year to build companies with us, and have grown to 18 funds with residencies in 30 cities around the globe. Founders also have the opportunity to pitch our Investment Committee to receive an up to $500K investment, allowing them to build for 12-18 months rather than attempting to raise before they have real traction.

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month until January 30, 2030
