Talk 1
Building a subscription-based flashcard library website using Python and Django

Description
I will talk about my process of learning Python and how I went from using beginner coding tutorials to creating my own unique project: The AnkiMaster Flashcard Library. This is a passion project born out of my obsession with polyglots and their very effective methods for learning languages very quickly and efficiently. The AnkiMaster Flashcard Library is a website built with Python and Django. It includes a database containing a growing collection of 1,000 flashcards for learning English.

I am honestly very new to coding and even just 5 months ago had no knowledge of Django. It was only a year and a half ago I started my first beginner course for learning basic Python. I wasn't able to build my own project by myself. I've had some help along the way. I have an online tutor who guides me and assists me in developing my project. I also utilize many of the same learning strategies that I used to teach myself human languages such as Spanish and Japanese. I'd love to talk about this process and share any tips and tricks for other aspiring coders.

Bio
Before I ever studied any computer languages I studied several different human languages including Thai, Japanese, and Spanish. I taught myself Spanish using my own method which I developed from many years of research and experimentation with the unconventional methods of polyglots. I am passionate about using technology to enhance, accelerate and improve my own learning process as well as my students' learning process.

The main reason I wanted to get into coding was because I wanted to create tools to help myself learn Spanish better and faster while having tons of fun at the same time. I wanted to share this with my online students who were learning English as well. I'm gradually getting closer and closer to this goal. I'm also hoping to use this project to help myself get a job as a Python Developer.

Talk 2: Hey I have been playing around with lots of embeddings the last few weeks and will be sharing what I have learned. I'll be talking about what embeddings are. What kinds of data we can turn into an embedding. and most importantly what are some applications of embeddings. Most of the talk will be from https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/embeddings but I will also be talking about using other non openai models and products but the idea is all the same. Will also talk about some vectorized databases for where you can store your embeddings.

Bio: I'm George I help organize this meet up. I'm a software engineer for BlackLocus. Always happy to share what I'm learning informally. I can't share the exact system Im working on or data I'm using but will talk about it at a high level. Yeah just looking to inspire people to go out and learn and build things.
