What we’re about

Welcome to Authentic Relating Denver. Here, we gather with each other to build genuine in-person connections and explore our relational fields.

What is authentic relating? It is a way to explore the vast landscape of human connection that lies beyond the scope of most human connections. It is a practice that settles the reactive nervous system and allows people to be deeply seen, heard, and accepted for who they are.

During our meetups, we welcome ourselves and each other just as we are. We practice authentic relating skills and exercises to dive deeper into awareness, connection and understanding. Our ultimate goal is to bring more vulnerability, intimacy, nourishment and trust into our relationships and into the present moment.

In this community, everyone is welcomed. Regardless of your age, race, identities, or experience with the authentic relating practice, you are a valuable part of this group. We look forward to relating with you at the next event!

Lastly, if you are interested in continuing your authentic relating practice, we are here to enable you. Feel free to reach out at the end of an event to learn more about Authentic Relating Training (ART International), or to join our leadership team which leads and facilitates sessions.

    What is Embodied Leadership?
Embodied leadership is the practice of stepping into and embracing the inner leader that we all have the energetic capacity to be. Every human is individually unique and has their own gifts to share with the world, and by relating authentically, courageously, and openly, we can empower ourselves and others to share and embody those gifts together.

    Why should I attend?
These monthly “Embodied Relational Leadership Training” sessions will be the gateway to building your own practice of embodied leadership within your own life. Eventually, as you discover the hidden power of your heart-mind-spirit coherence, you may find joy in the idea of creating or facilitating your own groups/communities, or to begin facilitating within already existing communities (like Authentic Relating Denver).

There is no prerequisite to joining a leadership training session. Each session is unique and you can start at any point. We welcome everyone, regardless of your prior leadership experience or desired mission.

    WHAT TO EXPECT?
    6:30pm - Welcome, Introductions, Self-Check In
6:45pm - Leadership Training - Monthly Theme and Activity Practice (led by David)

    • This month is all about Self-Leadership. How can you show up for yourself in a way that gives you the trust, confidence and courage that you can support yourself in the way you want to support others? In what ways do you want to lead in this world?

7:20pm - Emergent Leadership Activity (led by a predetermined emerging leader)
7:45pm - Plus / Delta Feedback for Emerging Leader
    8:00pm - Closing, Meet a New Friend

As you can see, we will be accomplishing multiple things in a single night:

    1. First, we will provide educational Embodied Relational Leadership Training. These topics will teach us how to think about leadership, including how to lead ourselves, and how to show up as a balanced leader in humility and dignity.
    2. Second, we will leave room for practice. Each month, a new emerging leader will have the opportunity to run a short activity of their choosing, and then receive feedback from the group on what they did well, and areas to improve.

    GUIDANCE

    • Please bring water and a light jacket.
    • Chairs will be provided in the community space.
    • This event is for adults and young-adults only.

    ABOUT THE HOST
With over a decade worth of leadership experience, David Schreiber is a community builder and heart-centered leader. He has led and taught in many ways over the years, including head instructing junior sailing programs, building and directing haunted houses, leading a college music production union, substitute teaching in middle and high-schools, managing cross-functional engineering projects, leading the Colorado District MA group, Authentic Relating Denver and Becoming Men groups, and co-founding Connected Communities. David has a unique way of leading from his heart. As a student of life, he is excited to share his learnings on leadership embodiment- the hidden power of what the heart space, mental, and energetic fields can do to create ripples in the world and to inspire others.

    WHAT'S NEXT?
Our goal is that through these leadership trainings and sessions, you will eventually develop the skills and practice to be able to lead your own groups or facilitate within Connected Communities or AR Denver. This is not a requirement for attending, but for those who are interested, this is the pathway to greater leadership within our organizations.
There are two forms of leadership within Connected Communities and AR Denver:

    • Organizational Leadership - refers to business level leadership to keep the organization up and running. Positions like president, vice-president, treasurer, social media, networking, marketing, event organizers, newsletter creators, trustees, fundraising and more.
    • Group Facilitator - refers to the facilitator or leader of a specific group or event. Facilitation is inherently a different skill set from organizational leadership, and requires additional emphasis on the “relational” part of relational leadership.
    • Co-Facilitator - the co-facilitator(s) refers to the individual or individuals supporting the lead facilitator during a group or event. Co-facilitators help track time, participants, and group harmony, and provide their own flavor of facilitation to create a balance in the event.
    • Lead-Facilitator - the lead-facilitator refers to the individual who’s ultimately leading the event. They create the plan for the event, provide the co-facilitators with instructions, and keep the group engaged throughout the event. They also plan logistics of the event, including writing the Meetup description, finding a suitable location, and other advertising.

If you are interested in becoming an organizational leader or facilitator of Connected Communities or AR Denver, please express your interest at the leadership training, and we will be happy to review the next steps with you!

  • Authentic Awakening: Authentic Relating meets Spirituality

Authentic Awakening: Authentic Relating meets Spirituality

Eugene Field Library, 810 South University Boulevard, Denver, CO, US

Are you ready to participate in and explore the practice of authentic relating, in the context of sharing spirituality, all the while making new friends in the process? If so, please join us for an "Authentic Awakening" session, hosted by David Schreiber.

    WHEN?
    Saturday November 15, 10:30am-12:30pm

WHERE? Eugene Field Public Library - Community Room
    810 S University Blvd, Denver, CO 80209

    What is "Authentic Awakening"?

Authentic Awakening is the alchemical process of combining the practice of Authentic Relating with Spirituality. Authentic Relating means sharing our inner truths in relation to others, while also holding space for their truth in the process. Spirituality is connecting to something outside of or inside of ourselves, whether it be a higher power, the universe, the stars, a religion, a philosophy, a community, a personal practice, or a principle.

My intention around “Authentic Awakening” is for our local community to connect, learn, share and practice genuine curiosity of each other’s spiritual practices and ideals. We are living in a time where spirituality is truly a melting-pot. It is amazing that we have the privilege to freely choose our religion or practice that works for us! All the while, we are amidst one of the greatest evolution of human consciousness, catalyzed by technology and the sharing of information- we now have access to spiritual texts and teachings spanning millennia from all over the world.

In this day-and-age of conflict and divisiveness, we need more than ever to feel connected with individuals in our community, learn to relate in a way that transcends differences, and honor our boundaries. This is the magic of authentic relating, and in the context of spirituality, I could not be more excited to share this practice with you.

November's Theme: Our body energy systems: Chi Energy, Prana, Breath, Kundalini, Reiki, Emotions (energy in motion), Energy Blocks, Yoga, etc....
Come ready to discuss these esoteric concepts and your relationship to them in your life!

    What to expect?

This is a workshop-style event with a supportive structure used to create a group context around the 5 practices of authentic relating:

    • Welcoming everything
    • Checking our assumptions
    • Revealing our experiences
    • Owning our experiences
    • Honoring ourselves and others

In this session in particular, we will use prompts, sentence stems, activities and group discussions to get in touch with your awareness, curiosity, truth, empathy, and spirituality.

Please bring an open mind and a willingness to both share your own spiritual perspectives and truths, as well as listen to and understand others perspectives and truths, even if they are different from your own. You will find there is no “right” answer on these topics, and this session is meant not to analyze or proselytize others, but to learn and grow through the process of curiosity and understanding. How deep can we fall into a genuine curiosity to learn and understand someone else's perspective, so that we can expand our own truth? That is the question we will be asking.

    The result?
    — Expanded relational awareness
    — Deeper, more meaningful and intimate connections with self and others
    — The potential to begin shifting lifelong relational patterns and blocks
All instructions and prompts will be provided; no experience necessary. This workshop is perfect for those new to AR as well as the well-seasoned.
