THEME: The Joy of Books: Adventures in Travel
Come share and discover books with a focus on Travel! Choose any book you enjoy from any genre. If you decide to share a fiction book, come ready to share about a character in the book. If you decide to share a nonfiction book, come, ready to share about your experience reading the book. The focus: your experience of adventure in any type of travel, real or imagined.
Example: I enjoyed the book The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong. The book is about the travels of a nomad woman who sets up her tent at every town along the way and charges for her small fortunes that are events that often come true. She is drawn to 2 other travelers, one of them searching for his lost daughter. They become great friends and add to their circle along the way. Their adventures ultimately entices them to face long held fears and even overcome obstacles (like a rock troll!) as they experience life on the road one step at a time.
I’ll be curious to know: In your own experience of the book you read, why did it feel like an adventure to you?
Please note that the book share will be short and sweet. No need to prepare much, just a short reflection like the one above. We will also share the list of titles in a large group for fun and inspiration.
What to expect?
This is a workshop-style event with a supportive structure used to create a group context around:
- Building connection with yourself and others
- Expanding our awareness in our body, mind, emotions
- Exploring inspiration found in reading books
- Engaging in discussions with others centered around the joy of reading
We will use prompts and group discussions to get you in touch with your awareness, curiosity, truth, and empathy.
The result?
— Expanded relational awareness
— Deeper, more meaningful and intimate connections with self and others around topics that inspire us
