We often hear how difficult it can be to make new friends as an adult and particularly when moving abroad; or when rebuilding social circles when old friends have moved away or onto new life phases.

Socialising attempts often mean standing in a crowded room, wearing a polite smile, and answering the same three questions: "What do you do?" "Where are you from?" "How long have you been here?" Great for breaking the ice, but rarely leading to genuine connection or something inspiring or meaningful. It’s exhausting. It feels like a performance.
