HHS audit finds $500M in potentially fraudulent autism provider payments in four states (ABC-TV-7 [Arkansas])
“A new federal audit found hundreds of millions of dollars in potentially improper Medicaid payments for autism-related services in four states, raising concerns about fraud and inadequate oversight of providers.

The Department of Health and Human Services audit identified millions of improper or incorrect payments tied to supposed autism care in Indiana, Wisconsin, Maine and Colorado. The audit found up to $600 million in Medicaid benefits were paid out across those four states, with potentially improper billings that included services that did not include therapy and payments for patients who were not properly diagnosed with autism.”
“They found that providers were billed, for billing, rather for children napping or eating, playing on tablets, watching movies when they're supposed to be providing them therapy, essentially.” “We saw staff without credentials delivered therapy across multiple states.”

On April 28, 2026, Mr. Parsons secured a 30-minute appointment on May, 12, 2026, to speak with AZ State Senator Kuby on this matter via Zoom meeting that Ms. Golubock and Ms. Neustadt will participate in.

Purpose for this Meeting
Discussing what Mr. Parsons, Ms. Golubock and Ms. Neustadt will be sharing with the Senator, as well as going over the examples that Mr. Parsons has tried to bring to the public’s attention that are listed in the letter that he sent to Senator Kuby. We’re also open to other attendees of this meeting to bring to our attention.
