Executive Functioning Workshop (and Lunch on Pier 57)

Details

“Do you struggle with procrastination, time management, and getting a task started? Do you have issues staying focused, regulating your emotions and thoughts, and issues with short term memory? Are you looking for tools and tips from other Autistics on getting things done?”

These questions and many more will be discussed at our Executive Functioning Workshop on Saturday, November 18th, at 12:00PM.

“Executive functions” refers to a set of skills that are necessary to organize and achieve our goals - this includes attentional control, cognitive inhibition, working memory and cognitive flexibility. Many Autistic people have difficulties with executive function skills, and have issues with day-to-day tasks, organizing, planning, and getting things done.

This workshop will be an open discussion, as we want to emphasize the importance of everyone's voices in this conversation.

FORMAT:
12:00 - Mingle and Introductions
12:15 - Intro on Executive Functions and Discussion of Challenges
12:45 - Discussion of Strategies with Guiding Questions
1:45 - Open Floor - Any Questions/Topics Welcome!

2:00 - (Optional) Lunch!: After the workshop, for those who are hungry, we'll grab food at the Pier 57 market and come back to the classroom to eat (Feel free to bring a bagged lunch as well if you have any dietary restrictions or prefer food from home).

HOW TO FIND US:
We will be meeting in the Daffodil Classroom. A map of how to find the classroom, and a map of all the available food stalls can be found here.
