Building a future we actually want to live in.

While there are plenty of online spaces, there’s something different about meeting in person, especially when it’s led by us. We are hosting an open meeting for the Autistic community, (diagnosed or not) including professionals and those navigating the complexities of the current system, to gather, share, and look forward.

Why join us?
The landscape of support and the NDIS can feel incredibly heavy right now. This is a space to acknowledge that weight, but also to find genuine hope.
We’ll be discussing the Autistic Haus mission: creating housing designed by us, for us, with a focus on sensory ease and true autonomy. But more importantly, we want to hear from you.

What are your non-negotiables for a home?

What are the access needs that the current systems ignore?

How can we collectively build something that lasts?

Vibe

Casual, low-pressure, and community-focused. Whether you want to dive deep into systemic analysis and infrastructure or just sit quietly and listen while we talk about housing models, you are welcome.

Where to find us

We will be at the Roma Street Parklands (Meanjin Brisbane).
Look for us in the area by the restaurant and the accessible toilets. We’ll have a small sign to make us easy to spot!

What to bring

Your own snacks/drinks if wanted.
Your thoughts, your vents, and your ideas for a neuro-inclusive future.
Of course any supports or accommodations you need eg support workers/carers welcome

We're a registered startup charity, for more info or to make a donation see https://autistic-haus.org.au/

Meeting info updated

### Important Info for Friday's Meetup: Location, Timing & What to Expect!

Hey everyone! As we head towards our very first meeting this Friday, I wanted to share a few key details so you know exactly what to expect:

  • 📍 Where to find us: We will be gathering in the BBQ area at Roma Street Parkland (unless it's raining, in which case I will post an update here!). To help you find your way smoothly, you can view the official parkland map here: Roma Street Parkland Map.
  • 🕒 Flexible Drop-In Window (3 Hours): Navigating jobs and public transport on a weekday can be tricky, so this meeting runs for a longer duration of 3 hours. Please do not feel any pressure to stay for the entire time—you are more than welcome to just pop in, say hello, and hang out whenever it suits your schedule.
  • 🤝 Our Focus: While my focus is on organising around building foundational housing and infrastructural support, I hope to foster new friendships and connections within the community for all of us, so do feel free to drop by and hang out.
  • 📋 Community Survey: we will be opening a brief survey on Friday regarding housing and support access and needs. We've prepared it for attendees but it will be opened online nationally.
  • 🗓️ Reoccurring Meetings: in person activities and meetings will be ongoing so don't stress if you can't make this one.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all. See you all on Friday!
