March Autonomic - Dataflow Programming and Reactive State Machines

Details

Autonomic Computing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomic_computing) - refers to the self-managing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-management_(computer_science)) characteristics of distributed computing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_computing) resources, adapting to unpredictable changes while hiding intrinsic complexity to operators and users.

For this meetup, we will continue our exploration of essential characteristics of autonomic systems. We'll provide an introduction to Dataflow (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dataflow)programming, also referred to as stream processing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stream_processing) or reactive programming (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_programming).

In addition, we will demonstrate hands-on examples of Reactive State Machines (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finite-state_machine) solving real-world workflows running on micro-services architecture (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microservices).

7:30pm - Welcome & Networking (food & drinks sponsored by Corenova)
8:00pm - Peter Lee - Dataflow Programming and Reactive State Machines
8:30pm - Prakash Sarathy, Ph.D - Algorithms for Unmanned Autonomous Operations
9:00pm - Wrap-up & Networking (discuss future topics)

Venue:

Dr. Sarathy from NGC has graciously opened up his venue again for our meetup group. We will be meeting at S-CAFE, which is part of the NGC Space Park Campus at Redondo Beach. The cafe is located at the ground level of the S Building, which is located next to the only tall E-2 Building with the NEON Northrop sign. The facility can host up to 100 attendees.

Parking: Free
