About us
The Awakened Parent Ashram is a Thrusday bi-weekly gathering for parents and children ages 1–6yrs to come together, play, connect, and explore The Art of Parenting as part of the larger Art of Being Human.
This is not another “way” to parent or a parenting method to follow. Our focus is relationship dynamics—the relationship between parent and child, the relationship we have with ourselves, and how our own early experiences, stories, and patterns enter into the way we meet our children.
Founded and facilitated by Jennifer Jeffcoat, a Somatic Therapist, Pre & Perinatal Birth Therapist, Somatic Movement Therapist, Waldorf-trained educator, Child-Led Learning Consultant, mother, and grandmother, with more than 30 years of experience holding space for children and families.
Jennifer’s work brings together pre & perinatal psychology, somatic and movement development, relational attachment, early childhood development, child-led learning, and the lived experience of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and family life.
Together we explore:
- Parent-child relationship dynamics
- How our own childhood & birth stories enter parenting
- Behavior as communication
- Relational attachment patterns
- Movement & early childhood development
- Emotional & social development
- Nervous system coherence
- Autonomy, boundaries & connection
- Play, curiosity & child-led learning
- Family rhythms & environment
- The Art of Being Human
While parents talk, children are free to move, play, explore, and build relationships. Their play and interactions become part of what we observe and learn from together.
The invitation isn't to become a “better” parent by mastering another technique. It is to become more curious about ourselves, our children, and what is happening in the relationship between us.
Come play. Come share. Come curious. Come grow in relationship.
