What we’re about

The ‘Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream’ workshop is a half-day transformative journey that educates people on the challenges and possibilities of this moment in time and the role they can play in creating a new sustainable future. The vision of the free sessions developed by Be The Change Australia and the Pachamama Alliance is to help shift those individuals ‘concerned’ about the state of the world into the ‘active’ category. The events helps participants to see the unique way in which they can contribute to help build “an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and social just human presence on this planet.”

There have been over 225,000 symposium participants at 3,900+ events delivered in 80 countries to date. The first Adelaide event was held in Nov. 2014.  These final two events are funded by the Adelaide & Mounty Lofty Ranges NRM (Natural Resources Management) Board, in cooperation with the Conservation Council.  The program's intent is to offer the engagement free-of-charge as a gift to the community.

The process is a series of expert videos shown, with personal reflection time and group exercises. The content was developed by the Achuar Indigeneous peoples in Ecuador (Pachamama means Mother Earth) in alliance with several North American organisations. There is now a small cadre of newly trained facilitators in Adelaide who will lead the session; they are associated with Be The Change Australia. There is general information on the Awakening the Dream(er) program at http://www.pachamama.org/engage/symposium (with a short 4:11 video about what to expect).

The symposium is inspiring and uplifting for those currently active on environmental campaigns and in the social justice community.  You are welcome to attend to get top-up on your motivation.  However, the idea is for those currently engaged in environmental, social change and sustainable community action to bring and/or tell friends, family and colleagues who need a slight nudge to action, or greater understanding of the current sustainability challenge and opportunity.  We want to build and expand a multi-faceted movement for change.

Please RSVP to register your attendance (in addition to MeetUp, see also http://www.pachamama.org/engage/symposium
and then search for or click on Adelaide or Australia on the map.

Please forward this information as widely as possible to organisations, colleagues, and acquaintances that might be interested.  These are the only scheduled 2015 trainings at the present time (there was 1 in November 2015).  It promises to be be an empowering and joyful event.
