What we're about
May 2021 COVID-19 UPDATE: In 2020 an email was sent out to Awakening Asheville advising all in-person meetups should be postponed or moved to virtual attendance only. As of May 2021, event hosts can have in person gatherings at their own safety preparations and discretion. Please direct question/concerns to the contact listed on the event if you need need more information. Thank you, and be well! Courtney
We are an LGBTQ+ BIPOC safe spiritual group that enjoys the coming together of community lightworkers sharing our journeys. We offer meditations, healing energy, and many different workshops. Come join us!
We welcome everyone and encourage all to share their expertise and offerings. If you have an event or gathering you wish to share, please contact the group organizer for postings. There is no charge to post, but in exchange for being able to promote for free, we encourage event hosts to offer something at no cost at some point, so the knowledge and spiritual expansion of this group can be available to all regardless of their finances.

Hosted by Natural Dharma Fellowship
Beginning with the first female disciples of the Buddha, women have shaped the trajectory of Buddhism, sometimes overtly as the founders of lineages, and sometimes quietly from the fringes of the tradition. Many of their writings and practices survive and thrive. This history of influence and inspiration continues to this day as Buddhism spreads to the West, even while many women still struggle with the vestiges of patriarchy within the tradition.
Join us for a series of monthly conversations exploring women, gender,
patriarchy, and Buddhism with leading voices on these topics in the West.

Slow down and be with yourself through art making. A rich morning that feeds your spirit, rests your body, quiets your mind and helps you remember who you are!
Here we will use the arts to have a conversation with ourselves and connect to our longings and gifts. This is not about religion, yet in the inquiry you may choose to make connections to your religious beliefs.
The format: We check in as a group, we may do a little drumming, have 5 minutes of quiet/reflection/meditation/prayer/relaxation time, go create art in silence (without talking) doing our own thing and then come back together to honor what we spent our time doing.
Art making can be painting, writing, sand tray, collage, doodling, scribbling, sewing, mixed media, movement, or…. No previous art experience necessary just the willingness to follow what you are attracted to and moving slow and quiet.
