~ The mission of the Liberty Toastmasters North Club in Longmont is to provide a fun and supportive environment in which every attendee has the opportunity to develop their communication, leadership, self-confidence, and personal growth skills through public speaking.
~ The theme for Saturday's meeting is: Principles of Liberals/Progressives vs. Conservatives/Libertarians
~ Liberal: A person who believes in individual rights and freedoms, with a government that protects these rights. Modern liberalism advocates for a more expansive government role in promoting social justice, addressing market failures, and fostering equal opportunities through civil and social programs.
~ Progressive: A person who believes in advancing social and economic reforms to improve society, often through government intervention, and is generally associated with left-leaning ideologies that promote social justice, equality, and a more significant role for the state in addressing societal problems like corruption and corporate power.
~ Conservative: A person who seeks to promote and preserve a range of institutions, such as the nuclear family, organized religion, the military, the nation-state, and property rights.
~ Libertarian: A person who believes in maximizing individual liberty and autonomy, advocating for minimal government intervention in personal, social, and economic affairs.
