Melbourne AWS User Group #135 - March 2023
Details
We're back for our March event! We're also in our usual venue at NAB and hopefully everyone can come along. It looks like we'll be avoiding February's heat, so it should be safer to travel at least.
We've got two amazing talks; the first by Praveen Patidar about Cost-Effective Automation in AWS and that is followed by Arjen Schwarz (yes, the same person who is writing here how amazing these talks are) who will tell a story about how cloud design is like telling a story.
As a reminder, we will start with the food and socialising at 6 pm, but the actual contents of the meetup (and live stream) will begin at 6:30.
Our thanks to Mantel Group for their continued sponsorship.
See below for the full agenda. The event will be streamed on YouTube as always:

# Empowering Customer Success with Cost-Effective Automation in AWS
* Praveen Patidar
Level 300
This talk will explore the synergy between customer success and cost-effective automation within AWS. We'll delve into the key components of AWS Control Tower, Organization, Security and DevOps, and discuss strategies for implementing automation to optimize resource utilization, improve governance, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

# Cloud Design as an Open Book
* Arjen Schwarz
Level 200
In this talk Arjen draws on his many years of experience designing cloud infrastructure and has some fun with it. Instead of simply going through the motions of how to design and build your infrastructure, he will weave a story of how, in many ways, designing for the cloud is just like crafting a story. In the end we'll have a cloud architecture that should be good for something, but whether that's a tragedy, comedy, or even a horror story will be left as an exercise to the reader.
The aim of this talk is to make the concept of cloud design more approachable and will hopefully show you that while there are a lot of parts to it, taking a slightly different look at it will help you realise that maybe it's not quite as boring as you might think.

We are always looking for speakers and believe everyone has an interesting talk hiding inside themselves. If you are interested in letting that talk out at a future event you can get in touch at the meetup, on the website, or reach out to one of the organisers on our Slack.
