And we're back for July! On the last day of the month is your usual dose of AWS goodness at the usual place!

This month we have 2 first-time speakers with some interesting topics. Our first speaker is Kate Vu who will talk about using CDK to build a serverless pipeline using ECS. This is followed by a talk by Dylan Armstrong about his experiences that led to him representing Australia in Cloud Computing at the WorldSkills International Skill Olympics Competition.

As a reminder, we will start with the food and socialising at 6 pm, but the actual contents of the meetup (and live stream) will begin at 6:30.
Our thanks to Mantel Group (https://mantelgroup.com.au) for their continued sponsorship.

See below for the full agenda. The event will be streamed on YouTube (https://melb.awsug.org.au/live) as always.

# Building Serverless Pipeline Using AWS CDK and Amazon ECS

* Matt Gillard

Level 200

In this talk Kate will take us through how we can use CDK, ECS, and GitHub Actions to build a completely automated setup to run daily batch jobs. She will show the design as well as the underlying code so you can build something like this yourself.

# Representing Australia in an AWS Cloud Computing Competition

* Dylan Armstrong

Level 100

I am a university student at Swinburne, going to represent Australia in Lyon, France in September as part of the WorldSkills International Skill Olympics Competition. I also won the Nationals and State (Victoria) level competitions as well. I will be representing Australia in Cloud Computing as the skill, with a focus on AWS Cloud. I wanted to share with everyone my experience training for the competition by building cloud projects with CloudFormation, etc. and also what my future holds and a little bit more about the competition. I intend on showing some stuff about my self, and stuff I've been working on as part of my training with cloud projects that I'm building!

========
We are always looking for speakers and believe everyone has an interesting talk hiding inside themselves. If you are interested in letting that talk out at a future event you can get in touch at the meetup, on the website (https://melb.awsug.org.au/speak/), or reach out to one of the organisers on our Slack.
