🎉 Join us for the Melbourne AWS User Group Meetup on Wednesday 29 October at the NAB Events Hub, 395 Bourke Street, Melbourne! 🎉

Spring is in full swing, the days are getting longer, and Melbourne is giving us its classic “four seasons in one day” energy. So let’s come together for another evening of great talks, good food, and AWS nerdery right in the heart of the city.

We'll be kicking the talks off with Vanitha, as she shows us how Q CLI can help with rapid development. What's an AWS event without talking about AI?

We'll be continuing the girl power. Regular guests would have seen Dale and Hazra in the audience. Tonight, they're in front of the mic to talk about IAM and how you can use Access Analyzer to help with least privilege. Remember, Securit is Job 0!

As a reminder, we will start with the food and socialising at 6 pm, but the actual contents of the meetup (and live stream) will begin at 6:30.

Our thanks to Mantel Group for their continued sponsorship.

See below for the full agenda. The event will be streamed on YouTube as always.

## From Code to Cloud in Minutes: Building Production-Ready Web Apps with Amazon Q Developer CLI

  • Vanitha Kaliyaperumal

Level 300

Discover how Amazon Q Developer CLI revolutionizes web application deployment from local development to production-grade AWS infrastructure.

This session demonstrates how AI-powered tools eliminate traditional deployment friction by enabling rapid local prototyping with intelligent code suggestions, seamless transition to production with automated ECS container orchestration, and enterprise-grade infrastructure deployment including ECR repositories and Application Load Balancers—all configured automatically.
Through this demonstrations, you'll see how a single CLI tool replaces hours of manual configuration with minutes of AI-assisted deployment.

## Least Privilege with IAM Access Analyzer

  • Dale Orders, Hazra Ali

Level 200

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a web service that securely controls access to AWS resources. It enables the management of permissions that determine which AWS resources users can access. IAM is crucial for ensuring that individuals are authenticated (signed in) and authorized (have permissions) to use resources, providing the necessary infrastructure for authentication and authorization within AWS accounts.

Access management in AWS is accomplished by creating policies and attaching them to IAM identities, which can include users, groups of users, or roles, as well as AWS resources. A policy is an object in AWS that, when linked to an identity or resource, defines the permissions associated with it.

We are always looking for speakers and believe everyone has an interesting talk hiding inside themselves. If you are interested in letting that talk out at a future event you can get in touch at the meetup, on the website (https://melb.awsug.org.au/speak/), or reach out to one of the organisers on our Slack.
