Blockchain is difficult and not for everyone - blockchain-based ledgers can be difficult to set up and manage. Amazon QLDB is ideal for customers who want standard blockchain services like smart contracts and anonymous data sharing, but those require a centrally owned ledger.

Amazon QLDB is a new class of database that provides a high-performance, immutable, and cryptographically verifiable ledger that customers can use to build applications that act as a system of record, where multiple parties are transacting with a centralized, trusted entity.

QLDB is also serverless, so it automatically scales to support the demands of your application. There are no servers to manage and no read or write limits to configure. With QLDB, you only pay for what you use.

Amazon already has customers building applications on top of QLDB including Smaato and Healthdirect. In the case of Healthdirect, they are using QLDB to manage regulatory compliance audits. Bruce Haefele, general manager at Healthdirect, explains:
