AWS Meetup ( In person ) - Jun 2022

Hi Everyone !

Pls be informed of the upcoming meetup scheduled on Thursday 23-Jun-2022.

As usual, We are looking for speakers who can share for about 15-20 Mins on a proposed topic. You can pls feel free to reach out to us ( email: aws.usergroup.singapore@gmail.com (or) Directly reach out to myself / my fellow event organisers here in this meetup ) and we will get it sorted out. Speaker slots are limited and tend to be snapped up fast, so pls don't miss this chance!

Important reminders
- This is a mask on event

- Bring your identification (NRIC, driver's license, work pass)

• As usual for all in-person meetups, there will be pizza provided to attendees, on a first come first serve basis (we will cater to vegetarians, halal as well) courtesy of AWS. This will be served from 6.30 onwards. It will be limited and on a first-come-first-served basis, so do not come too late else it will run out

- There will be buy-your-own-drinks networking after the actual meetup at a nearby pub (probably Kazbar)

- There will be swag / credit codes give-aways

Actual Day Procedures:

Visitors are required to register at the building reception on the first floor in order to access the AWS office on the 10th floor, where you will be issued a pass for the 9th floor where the meetup event is taking place (09.402 Tanah Merah Room). We will position ushers during peak periods.

Identity Pass - Identity card, driver's license, or passport required for registration at 1st-floor reception and 10th-floor AWS office

SafeEntry Check-in - Recommended but not mandatory

Mask - Mask wearing is required indoors if you are not drinking or eating

Physical Distancing - Recommended 1m

Personal Hygiene - Maintain a high level of personal hygiene. Hand sanitizers and/or wipes are provided in AWS office.

At the end of the meetup, we will also head to the nearby pub to continue networking as per our usual tradition.

Agenda:

1. Building food ordering chatbot with Amazon Lex by KK
In this talk, I will run through the architectural design and technology choices leveraged on with amazon web services & twilio for building a food ordering chatbot. This talk will also include a real time demo on the overall end user journey where you will practically experience how and when each of the aws services and external integration comes in to play to deliver a real time application.

2. Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD in Practice with AWS CDK by Donnie, AWS

DevOps is the combination of cultural philosophies, practices, and tools to increase development velocity to deliver apps. In general, practicing DevOps enable organizations to better serve customers and compete effectively in the market. Infrastructure as Code and release pipeline with CI/CD are two of best practices in DevOps, and considered the best entry for developers who just getting started with DevOps. Join us in this session to understand how we can implement IaC and CI/CD using AWS Cloud Development Kit. We will show you a step-by-step demos to help you get started. After this session, you will understand the overall concept of IaC and CI/CD, AWS services you need to use and developer tool for seamless integration with your development workflow.

3. Managing and creating synergy in design when your UAT is AWS and Prod is On-prem by Gangzheng
How can you go about bridging the difference when your UAT is AWS and Prod is On-prem ? In this talk, I will share about such environment necessity for one of the project I have worked on and the design I have established to reduce disparity between UAT and Production. I will also reflect my learning experience from this unique project which can be a pointers for you to manage such challenge if such need arises !
