OpenClaw: The Rise of Open-Source AI Agents & Building Agentic Systems on AWS EKS
Open-source AI agents have exploded into the mainstream, and OpenClaw is leading the charge. What started as a personal project quickly became one of the fastest-growing open-source repositories ever, with developers using it to run autonomous agents that manage files, browse the web, and even negotiate deals over email - all from a self-hosted runtime that talks to you through apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Slack.
In this session, we'll dig into what makes OpenClaw and projects like it different from typical chatbot wrappers: local-first memory, model-agnostic design, and a heartbeat scheduler that lets agents act without being prompted. We'll then shift from "running on a laptop" to "running in production," walking through how to design and deploy agentic systems on AWS EKS - covering containerization patterns for agent runtimes, scaling considerations for long-running autonomous workloads, secrets and credential management for tool-using agents, and the networking/isolation choices that matter when an agent can execute shell commands or hit external APIs on your behalf.
Whether you're curious about the open-source agent ecosystem, evaluating OpenClaw-style tools for your own use, or thinking about how to run agentic workloads reliably on Kubernetes, this talk will give you a practical foundation for both.
Food and swags will be provided for all attendees, so come hungry and ready to network!
