Breaking the bias in tech with Priya Balachandran & Suzana Melo

Please join us on the 7th of April. Our speakers will talk about their journey in tech, and the bias they have encountered throughout their careers.

A little more on our guest speakers:

Suzana Melo - is a full-stack developer at Vodafone NZ. After moving to New Zealand in 2014, she learned English and graduated as a Full Stack Developer at Dev Academy as part of a meaningful career and personal challenge. She has a bachelor's in Communications with more than 20 years of experience in television, newspapers and press office, management, and public relations. Suzana is also the co-organiser of FullStack Developers New Zealand Group, a member of the Woman In Tech - Vodafone and Vodafone Rainbow Whanau committees and other community projects around NZ. Passionate for both areas, Web Development, and Communications, she actively uses her skills to participate and help in a range of events and groups focused on improving the number of women and minorities in tech and growing the tech scene in NZ.

Priya Balachandran - is the practice lead of Q&A and capability at Datacom. Priya has been working in the IT industry for almost two decades, with 5+ years in IT Operations, Incident Management (ITIL), she has a background in engineering (electronics). Priya has worked with multiple large MNC's, having led transformations projects and built QA teams across regions, Priya has a wealth of experience in building teams, building capability and growth in diverse teams, promoting a good culture, and creating a fun workplace environment, as well as being a strong advocate for women in tech
