re:Cap: John Varghese will talk about his experiences at re:Invent, important announcements, and the impact of serverless and sustainability.
Presentation: As developers continue to develop quickly, security teams are pulling their hair out trying to track where all of their data is being copied/used by dev teams. As a result there ends up being massive amounts of potentially sensitive data sitting unmanaged in cloud environments. This is where DSPM (Data Security Posture Management) comes in.
DSPM is the next generation approach to discovering all your data and applying an effective security posture that will prevent data going unmanaged or exposed. This "shadow-data" exists in nearly every environment that does not have a DSPM approach to their cloud environment and is just sitting there for a bad actor to take advantage of.
Speaker: Andy is a veteran of 30+ years in the high-tech industry in Silicon Valley. He has spent the last 20 years in security, currently as CMO at cloud data security provider Laminar and previously as CMO at SaaS security innovator Qualys. Prior to that Andy was SVP of Marketing for identity provider Centrify and Sr Director of Product Management for Oracle responsible for their identity & security offerings.
Andy is a frequent speaker on technology and security at industry events around the globe. Andy has a MBA from Santa Clara University and Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Occidental College. ”Shaping solutions that users love and solve real customer problems is what drives me.”
A quick survey: I'm thinking about organizing a one day Code Camp style conference in the Bay Area (free for attendees.) If you would be interested in attending that, please let me know which topics you would be interested in. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfO1HYWtfD2iyYKwifsdJiHud2LRm0giZlAGfDUI3jRBfZghQ/viewform?usp=sf_link . The topics will be approved by the community and the talks will all be centered around code.
