August '23 AWS Sheffield
Join us for our August meet up where we'll be kindly hosted by Airwalk (https://airwalkreply.com) @ electric works (https://www.electric-works.net).
This month our first speaker is James Charlesworth, engineering manager at Pendo in Sheffield, and author of "Developing on AWS with C#" (O'Reilly). James will be giving the talk:
Migrating Legacy Web Applications to AWS
As businesses embrace the cloud for its scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency, migrating legacy applications to run alongside your other AWS services becomes a critical undertaking. In this talk, we will explore some of the many different approaches you can take to migrate a legacy .NET web application to AWS, using various migration strategies and AWS technologies. We will also touch on how you can leverage serverless computing approaches to extend and enhance your web app once it is there.
Our second speaker of the evening is Ahmad Tariq, Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Ahmad will be delivering the following talk:
Building on a budget, the AWS-Well Architected way
In the current economic climate, Cost Optimisation is the hot topic. When speaking to customers they are always keen to learn how to lower costs for running their AWS workloads. As an important pillar within the AWS Well-Architected Framework, we will look at cost management, budget tracking and cost optimization best practices to optimize for cost efficiency.
As ever, in addition to our 2 fantastic speakers we have a great venue, food & drink and the opportunity to meet & network into the evening.
Our event is free and inclusive; we welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels to join. If you require any accommodations please reach out and we will do what we can.
