Sessions

A story of building security automation at Rabobank
Marcel Swidde, Koshin Verberne
45 min
“Join us for an insightful presentation on our journey to build a robust security framework at the Rabobank AWS platform team. We'll share our experiences and strategies for developing and deploying serverless components to ensure the deployed infrastructure is compliant per Rabobank’s standards.
You'll learn about the initial security challenges we encountered and our objectives for the security framework. We'll delve into the serverless components and the development of our code base. Additionally, we'll discuss our strategy for real-time monitoring and automated notifications to address corrective actions and detect non-compliance. Finally, we'll share insights on integrating our security framework within the Rabobank environment and the valuable lessons we learned throughout the process.“

Learnings in Migrating Rabobank's Cash Services to AWS
Rabobank Payments and Savings, Paycunia team
45 min
“Meet team Paycunia, we're a team responsible for the back-end services which enable cash deposits and cash transaction monitoring for Rabobank customer's across The Netherlands. Team Paycunia's journey started alongside the rise of Geldmaat and the initiative for cash machines to be shared between banks. This talk, however, is focused on the last couple of years of our journey, where we re-architected, re-developed, and re-released 15 different APIs and services which were previously running on-premise, but now run natively in AWS. Come along with us as we share in the decisions we made, problems we faced, and solutions we found. “

Online Banking with the intelligent edge. How to unlock the data potential?
Kim van Wilgen, CTO Financial Services at Schuberg Philis
Peter Reinders, Sr Lead Intelligent Application Edge & SSE services

Rabobank's online banking applications and APIs leverage an intelligent edge to serve as the first line of defense, ensuring continuity, security, and an optimal end-user experience. The intelligent edge tracks every end-user activity, the intelligent edge generates vast amounts of data with significant potential. This data can offer valuable insights for SecOps, DevOps, fraud detection, performance and availability. The challenge lies in unlocking this potential, how can we effectively utilize the extensive collected data to drive these insights?Rabobank online banking intelligent edge receives billions of security events, performance and fraud indicators which traditional data solutions can't handle. During application attacks the vast amount of data being analysed requires innovations to offer elasticity and scalability beyond existing cloud solutions. Rabobank and Schuberg Philis developed the AIDA platform to cope with these challenges. Join this talk to learn how we effectively process up to 400K EPS and an average of 25TB of data weekly and growing, with regulatory retention of 13 months. We will share how we jointly have been rethinking resilience, recoverability and testing to match by design the requirements from DORA, privacy, portability and compliance. Using AWS S3 at raw data storage to allow for cost effective storage, just-in-time ingestion and reingestion for resilience and replay for SecOps investigations. AWS Managed OpenSearch for scalability and power to deliver queries and insights at speed. Fargate and AWS security hub for maximizing shared responsibility to allow us to focus on business value, and a data mesh architecture for privacy by design, serving unique insights with PowerBI and Grafana. The result has been exceeding all expectations and AIDA will unlock more data potential in the near future.
