What we’re about
Welcome to the Objectivism Vienna Meetup Group!
We are a growing community of individuals interested in the philosophy of Ayn Rand—Objectivism—and how it applies to life, culture, and current events.
We meet weekly to explore themes such as individualism, reason, rational self-interest, capitalism, art, and ethics. Whether you're a seasoned reader of Rand or just curious, you're welcome to join the conversation.
Each session features a focused topic or reading (usually short and optional), followed by open discussion in a relaxed, respectful setting.
Why Join?
Engage with like-minded people who value freedom, purpose, and thought.
Deepen your understanding of Ayn Rand’s ideas and their relevance today.
Exchange insights on how to live a more rational, purposeful, and independent life.
Our goal is to build a vibrant intellectual community in Vienna based on reason and individualism. Join us and be part of it.

Why is there poverty? Is it the government's responsibility to fight poverty? Why? Why not? Is inequality unfair, acceptable, good? What is freedom and why do we need it?
Politics builds on a moral foundation. We all accept some kind of morality and most people have a political opinion. But rarely do people have an opinion on morality, at least not a well thought out one. It is usually just accepted and assumed without ever questioning it.
To answer any moral question one has to first ask and answer the question of what the purpose of life is. That sets the ultimate purpose of morality, politics and any political system. Let's discuss the moral premises of the statist state, what the proper moral premises should be and whether capitalism is the solution to all of that.
