This is a great one to attend if you have not attended the previous two Linux classes. If you wanted to join us but missed the first couple of classes, we want you to come to this. It will help a lot with future classes we plan on doing.
For those who have attended before but didn’t get through all the exercises or still feel a little unsure of how well you retained the knowledge:
Learning Linux can be daunting at first, we get it. It helps to go over the same lessons several times to drive home the learning. Also you can try out your new skills by helping the new folks go through exercises.
We’ll cover what we’ve done up to this point in a relaxed, casual learning session with lunch served and plenty of networking.
Agenda:
-
Set up Virtualbox on your laptop
-
Create Linux server machine and workstation machine in Virtualbox
-
Connect the two machines together on a virtual network inside Virtualbox
-
Configure hostnames, admin users, generate SSH keys
-
Create an Apache webserver inside one of the machines
-
Create a Samba server inside one of the machines
Learning Linux is foundational to the way IT/Devops is done today. It is at the heart of cloud, e-commerce and many other industries reshaping the global economy.
We’ll use this Linux class as a spring board into many other new technologies including Containers, Ansible, OpenStack, Cloud, Object Store and more!
Come get caught up with us!
