Let's stay closer to Denver area and try the Doudy Draw to Springbrook Loop Trail for 5 miles and 597 feet of elevation gain in the Boulder Open Space.
The Doudy Draw Trail meanders southward along the draw to the junction with the Spring Brook Loop Trail. After the Spring Brook Loop junction, Doudy Draw crosses the creek and heads east up the slope to the Flatirons Vista Trails. This hike is rated moderate and goes through open stands of ponderosa pine on a savannah ecosystem. There could be muddy sections throughout the trail. Go through the mud to keep the surrounding vegetation alive.

What to bring...Colorado weather changes quickly so come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, snowshoes, backpack and snacks, and water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - rain gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!
Carpooling: Form carpools from your neighborhood or meet at free parking at the Eldorado PnR and carpool to the trailhead parking. All park visitors whose motor vehicles are not registered in Boulder County must possess either a daily or annual permit to park at Doudy Draw.
Directions: From Denver, follow CO-93 North to Eldorado Springs Road. Follow for 1.7 miles to Doudy Draw parking.
