For eighty years, The Brown Palace Hotel has welcomed the National Western Stock Show’s Grand Champion Steer into its iconic Atrium—an enduring Denver tradition where Western heritage meets timeless elegance. Steer Day 2026 is a complimentary, ticketed celebration featuring the steer’s signature red-carpet arrival during Afternoon Tea, with beverage purchases available and advance reservations required due to limited capacity.

Join us for The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa’s 80th Annual Steer at the Brown on Friday, January 23rd from 11 am to 1 pm. This is as close as it gets to a bull in a china cabinet.

Welcome the guest of honor, the National Western Stock Show 2026 Grand Champion Steer, as he waltzes down the red carpet into the elegant and iconic atrium lobby. Believe it or not, the lobby will be crowded with reservations for Afternoon Tea!

Arrive by 10:30am and Meet the group by the side door located on 17th & Tremont where they'll unload the Champion Steer and guide into the lobby. Good vantage point for close up photos of the steer, National Western Stock Show Queens and the young proud 4-H owner of the steer. Inside the lobby you can have your free photo taken with the steer.

Parking... Meter Street parking, parking lots or take public transportation! Can usually find a two hour meter along Broadway plus there are some pricy parking lots around. Some people use Spot Hero to find parking deals. Or, for $1.35 take light rail to Denver Union Station and jump on the free 16th Street Shuttle to 16th & Tremont and walk two blocks to the Brown Palace.
