Hiking on Friday this week instead of Thursday! Carpooling is recommended!

Join us to hike the moderately difficult Shanahan-North Fork, Mesa and Fern Canyon Trails for 5+ miles and 1000 feet of elevation gain. Fern Canyon is the most difficult part of this hike. It's in the trees, has some steep sections including a section of uphill steps. Bring your spikes for this part of the trail. https://trails.colorado.gov/routes/176769

Dog free hike...please leave your baby dogs at home for Baby Boomer hikes.

Directions to the Trailhead: The Shanahan Ridge Trailhead is located just along Lehigh Street south of Boulder. From US 36, follow Table Mesa Drive West to its intersection with CO 93. Turn left onto 93 and follow it for less than a mile. Turn right onto Greenbriar Boulevard which eventually becomes Lehigh Street. The trailhead is on the left/southwest side of the road and marked by a trail post and trash receptacle. There is actually no parking lot because the trailhead is located in a residential area. Because of this please exercise extra care and respect for the residents as you park along Lehigh or adjacent streets. Be aware of city parking signage. Carpooling Is recommended!

What to bring...Colorado weather changes quickly! Please come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and food/water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - extra warm layers, wind pants, warm hat, extra gloves, and extra socks. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!

Optional refreshment after the hike at a location TBD!

See you there!

Important Note: This is a participate at your own risk event! Life is risky.
