Let's tour the Denver Central Library! Tour will be approximately 60-90 minutes and may include...

  • Art & Architecture: Focus on the Postmodern design, the 21-foot "The Yearling" sculpture, and the 130-yard mural by Edward Ruscha.
  • Western History & Genealogy (5th Floor): Specialized tours often visit this department, which holds extensive primary source materials, historical photographs, and genealogical records.
  • Special Collections: Access to rare items, such as those featured in the "Booklover's Tour" or specific historical exhibits (e.g., Civilian Conservation Corps artifacts).
  • Library Neighborhoods: Viewing the renovated spaces, including the "living room" commons area, the new teen library with a designated pink line border, and updated children’s areas.
  • Amenities: Highlights include the Red Chair Bookshop, coffee shop, and new community meeting rooms.

We'll meet our tour guide in the middle of the main hall on level 1 near the couch circle. We have a reservation for 20 people. Be courteous to the tour guide and keep your RSVP accurate. I'll be confirming our number of participants on Friday, April 17. Keep your RSVP accurate and avoid a No Show.

There will be walking, standing and using the elevators or stairs. Wear comfortable shoes and allow extra time for parking, travel etc.

Parking: There is no free parking near the Central Library. Consider public transportation or find two hour paid street meter parking. Other option is the Cultural Center Complex Garage which provides hourly parking for a fee and is across 13th Avenue, South of the library.

Optional refreshment at the Schoolyard Beer Garden after the library tour. Coffee, tea, adult beverages, food and seperate checks available.

See you there!
