What we’re about
We are a group of scientific skeptics (as opposed to 'conspiracy skeptics') with a heavy emphasis on critical thinking. If you don't believe in paranormal ability, ouija boards or ghosts then this group is for you.
FOUNDED IN 2008, we have many field trips and casual get-togethers just to socialize with other critical thinkers as well, and of course our great pot-luck summer and winter solstice parties.
Our goal: To support the agnostic/athiest/skeptic/humanist community with local meetings, potluck parties, and other social events. To spread the word that scientific skeptics and non-believers that promote secular values and the separation of church and state. We cherish humanistic values over any supernatural superstitions and encourage others to look at their worldview with critical thinking skills.

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights. But we know the truth: in America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it.
This is more than a protest; it’s a moral reckoning. A continuation of the movement Lewis helped lead, and a new front in the struggle for freedom.
Please note: A core principle behind our Good Trouble Lives On actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Seal beach and friends are taking action against Donald Trump and his administration in a peaceful protest. This event will start at noon and end at 2 PM. If you do not have a sign and would like to hold one, signs will be available to borrow (and must be returned by 2pm) on the Chase Bank corner of Main Street and PCH in Seal Beach. We are committed to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Please remain on the sidewalks without blocking entrances to any business. Again, please do not engage with any person who tries to antagonize you. Simply ignore them. They want you to engage with them. Summon all your strength and resist speaking to them. 😍Parking can be found in the Pavilions parking lot, the Chase Bank parking lot, and the neighborhood directly behind Chase Bank.

We'll bring some music, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks. You bring the godless energy (and some snacks to share)!

Park on the north side of the parking lot. We'll grab a section of beach near the fire pits around Lifeguard Station #51 at Dockweiler State Beach. Look for the Atheists United signs and tents.
Event is from 10pm - 2pm, but feel free to continue partying long after we pack up if you want. Freedom is our community's number one value.
Don't forget to bring everything you need to make a trip to the beach a good time: sunscreen, towel, hat, beach chairs, beach games, snacks, etc.We'll set up tents, chairs, and a few games everyone can enjoy.
Paid parking is available right next to the beach for about $15.
Bathrooms are nearby.
