Known for being one of King's weirder stories (with King even later admitting that he was on a coke-binge through the entire production), Maximum Overdrive brought King's legendary name into the hallowed halls of bad moviemaking.
Plot: For 8 days in 1986, the earth passed through the tail of a mysterious Rhea-M rogue comet. During that time, all machines on Earth suddenly come to life and terrorize their human creators. In a remote desert truck stop, a small group of people (led by Emilio Estevez), held hostage by homicidal 18-wheel semi-trailers, set out to stop the machines before the machines stop them.
The Twisted Spine is more than just a bookstore — it's a portal into the macabre, a haven for horror enthusiasts, and a tribute to the chilling art of storytelling. As NYC’s first bookstore dedicated exclusively to horror and dark literature, they pride themselves on curating a diverse selection of books that span the spectrum of fear and fascination. They not only serve as a bookstore, but also feature a full espresso cafe with Devoción coffee, and a beer and wine bar.
