Deathstalker 2 + Baahubali
Details
Tonight's theme is EPIC fantasy!
Deathstalker 2
(1987 1h15m)
We recently watched the SIXTH Deathstalker movie for BMN, made in 2025, now let's go back to the second made almost forty years beforehand. In many ways it's a pretty standard sword and sorcery movie, complete with quippy one liners, what elevates it is the leads are played by surfer dude/valley girl Californians who are clearly just playing themselves. It's like the D&D game where the players won't take anything seriously, so you get dialog like "Deathstalker? Is that your first name or your last name?"
Baahubali: The Beginning
(2015 2h35m)
Baahubali is a very popular Indian fantasy epic, made by some of the same people who made RRR. It comes in two parts, with a total length of 5 hours, but I'm only going to show you part 1 which is the funniest (and has the most romance). This is not a "bad" movie, just like RRR isn't bad, but it's phenomenally over the top while taking itself very seriously, and people at my previous showings thought this was hilarious. My favorite part is the romantic musical sword duel.
THIS IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT AT MY APARTMENT IN SUNNYVALE!
I have space for about 18 people.
Doors open 6:00 PM
Movie starts 7:00 PM
ADDRESS: 550 E Weddell Dr, Sunnyvale 94089
My apartment complex has a sign saying "Encasa". Go straight ahead until you see the leasing office, then CALL OR TEXT ME to be let into my building. I will email my CELL NUMBER to everyone who has RSVPd, on the day of the event.
PARKING can be an issue. First, try the parking garage in my apartment complex (turn left after you enter the complex). There are usually a few guest spots right inside the entrance. There are also various outdoor spots labeled "Guest". Second, try the small shopping plaza at 1160 N Fair Oaks, which is about a 10-15 minute walk north of my apartment. The walk may be easier than finding street parking.
