Guidelines for level of play
Low intermediate
- Hit rate accuracy above 80%
- Double rotation capability and coverage
- Able to tap and drive
- Able to cross net from both sides
- Able to smash/drop
- Able to defend smashes
- Able to backhand lob/drop 50% of the time
Mid intermediate
- Hit rate accuracy above 90%
- Able to jump smash/drop
- Able to cross net at all angles
- Able to backhand lob from end to end
- Able to backhand smash/drop
- Able to return powerful smashes to baseline
- Able to perform footwork with speed
High intermediate
- Hit rate accuracy above 95%
- Able to perform high quality super powerful jump smash/drop (e.g. Praveen Jordan)
Advance
- Competitive level (ex-national, ex-state players)
- Fully mastered all strokes
