About us
Welcome to Bakers and Tasters! We are a Baking Club (AND EATING CLUB!)
Ladies, do you...
• Love to bake (sweet or savory)?
• Love to eat sweet and savory baked goods?
• Love to socialize over coffee, tea, and good food?
...if you say "yes" to any of these questions, then this meetup group is for you!
We will be scheduling 6-10 meetups per year in ESSEX, MA. Don't be afraid of the wait list! Just throw your name on there! I can assure you that people sign up well ahead and then by the time the event rolls around, it dwindles down.
This meetup group is for ladies only - every night will be "ladies night"!
BAKERS - Do you need people to eat your experiments? Would you like a fun setting for people to enjoy your baking? If you are a baker (new or seasoned) and want a unique outlet for your baking, please join us! And on those occasional weeks when you don't feel like baking, or are too busy to bake, you can be a taster!
TASTERS - Do you love to sit around a table with a cup of coffee and enjoy a sweet or savory snack in the evening with friends? Then please join us! Instead of bringing food, we ask all tasters to bring a small supply donation such as napkins, plastic utensils, tea, etc. Each event page will specify supply needs.
DUES: This meetup group is FREE to join. There will be a contribution box at events and it is recommended that attendees contribute $3 - $5 per attended event. It is extremely helpful in off-setting meetup costs (which continuously increase). Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated! If you want to know where your contributions are going, the finances are public and there is a link on the event page. You can see all of the startup costs and ongoing costs and how the past dues and contributions have helped to offset those costs.
I truly enjoy this meetup group and I think you will too! I have always enjoyed baking and thought I would do more 'recipe tweaking' and recreational baking if I had people to eat it! This group has been a great outlet while also providing a chance to meet new friends at the same time!

Spring Picnic :)
65 Eastern Ave, Essex, MA, USFirst of all - SO SORRY for this late B and T! I had good intentions for April but every weekend had something on it! So we're going to sneak our April B&T into the first weekend of May :). We are going to think "Spring Picnic". No I won't make you sit on the floor :) and the "baking" aspect of it is totally optional this time since so many picnic items do not require baking. I'm hoping everyone will be quite creative with this thinking in various directions like 'anything you might put into a picnic basket', or 'use of edible flowers or decorative flowers' on baked goods to remind us of flowery fields :), or 'unique packable sandwiches and wraps', or use of 'herbs and garden or outdoor foraging ingredients', or 'amazing portable desserts and snacks'. Here's some links I found:

BAKERS: Choose a recipe - savory or sweet! Make sure to comment what you are bringing so we don't have duplicates!
TASTERS: Please bring one of the following supply contributions to the Meetup: a small box of disposable eating utensils (white or clear), hot cups with lids, paper/plastic 9" or larger plates of any kind, cold cups, a pack of napkins (white), ground Maxwell House or Folgers Coffee - regular or decaf - (please do not bring other brands or special flavors since we are now sharing and replenishing supplies that also belong to the church), or tea bags. These donations will be integrated into the supplies that we share with the church for future use. Tasters, please COMMENT what you will be bringing - duplicates are OK.
$ CONTRIBUTIONS: Attendees should contribute $3-$5 at each event unless you already gave me one lump sum (contribution box provided - honor system!). Meetup expenses add up, and the cost to organize a group increases each year. If you would like to see what your contribution is going towards, you can click on the link below (the link doesn't always work on mobile devices). All expenses from the beginning of this group are recorded. Online contributions are listed under "contributions". Specific "year long" donations are listed by person. Cash donations are listed under "other income" : https://www.meetup.com/Bakers-and-Tasters/money
RSVP:
*If you are a first timer and you add a +1 to your RSVP, please make sure your friend is female. We like to keep this meetup a ladies night out!*Please change your rsvp ahead of time if you cannot attend. Please do not wait until the last minute. This makes it hard for people on the waitlist to plan and prepare. If you don't show up for a meetup or back out last minute, I will move you to the wait list for the next meetup to give others a chance.
PROVIDED:
*Serving utensils, plates, water, coffee, tea. I only ask that at the end of the night everyone clean up and take home their own serving dishes and platters along with any leftovers. If you use one of our serving utensils, please take a moment to wash it and put it back into the box or drawer. You may bring a take-out container in case their are leftovers.WHAT TO BRING:
- Your dish or your contribution
- Serving utensils (or you can grab one from our collection, use it, wash it, and return it to the box at the end of the night.)
- A TAKE OUT CONTAINER - Take out containers are no longer provided. If you are interested in leftovers, please be sure to pack your own container!
- $3-$5 donation (unless you gave me a lump sum) - VenMo code will also be available.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!! Happy Baking! :):)
