Snow: A History of the World's Most Fascinating Flake
Snow can shut down cities and turn mountains into playgrounds.
But why has snow captured our fascination? This is among the questions that our guest speaker Anthony R. “Tony” Wood addresses in his book “Snow: A History of the World’s Most Fascinating Flake”.
He will join us to discuss psychological and scientific perspectives on snow; the amazing histories of snowmaking and removal; and how it has been so often referenced in literature, art, and popular culture.
He also will talk about Wilson Alwyn Bentley, who became affectionately known as “Snowflake Bentley”, and proved that no two snowflakes are identical. You won’t want to miss his fascinating and entertaining presentation.
Tony is an award-winning staff writer and editor who has worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer for 35+ years. His writings include weather, changing oceans, coastal development, biometeorology and other assorted topics.
