RE: [baltimorephp] Meetup this Wednesday - ZendCon Ticket Giveaway, Baltimore PHP Jobs and more!

I couldn’t make it to the PHP event yesterday because I was returning from overseas.  I’ll keep an eye out for future events though.

I’m looking for a developer currently to replace an existing lead developer but am being told by various people that Ruby on Rails is better for my project than PHP.  Is there a discussion forum you can recommend to discuss the pros and cons of this.

There are 2 teaching jobs:

  • One of Digital Harbor High School's computer science teachers recently got into a serious and tragic car accident and had to pull out of teaching this academic year. That said, they're looking for someone to teach an Introductory Comp Sci course (basics of PHP with MySQL database structures and queries). A teaching degree isn't required if you have a comparable computer related degree. It's a full time gig (M-F, 7:50-2:50).     If you are interested or know someone that would be interested in this opp, please send LOI's/Resumes to [address removed] immediately.
  • Train Ace ( is looking for someone to teach an intro to PHP and MySQL week long class in Greenbelt, Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5pm. They would put you up in a hotel for the week if you weren't local. The class preferably the week of 8/29.  Pay starts around $50 hour.  Contact Ryan Corey ([address removed]) for more information.  (Disclaimer:  This is a client of mine.  I don't have any other affiliation with the school, just helping someone out)

Long time Baltimore PHP member, Kevin Bruce, has 2 PHP/Oracle openings on his team at NCI in Frederick.  Mid-level 4-6 years experience.  I don't know any more details, so please contact him @ [address removed]

Note: Baltimore Wordpress is also meeting tonight for a code review.  More details:
