Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that the meetup is tomorrow.  Make sure you RSVP so we can get an accurate count for food (thanks ADG!) - RSVP @

Postgres Conference by Baltimore/Washington Postgres Meetup group
The local Postgres meetup group is hosting  a one-day Postgres centric conference that is going on in the Baltimore/DC region. The conference is being held at the Executive Conference & Training Center out near Reston, VA, on Friday March 30th, 2012.

Confirmed speakers for the event include PostgreSQL contributors Bruce Momjian, Magnus Hagander, Robert Treat (our awesome speaker for this month!), Stephen Frost, and Greg Smith. It will cover topics for users, developers and contributors to Postgres. You'll get a chance to meet people who work seriously with and on the database, find out about the local Postgres job market, and interact with local users of the database.

To get more information on speakers, topics, or to register, people can check out the website at

MySQL Conference and Expo
Percona is running the big annual MySQL conference this year, and I'd really like your help informing everyone about it. O'Reilly used to host the event, but they're not doing it anymore, and we think it's likely that a lot of people won't realize there is a conference this year unless we really get the word out.

This is the same conference O'Reilly always used to run, the "MySQL Users Conference [and Expo]". We just can't call it the "MySQL" conference for trademark reasons. It's the same time (April 10-12), the same location (Santa Clara Hyatt and Convention Center), the same conference ballrooms and expo hall, and all the rest. There is great lineup of tutorials and 8 tracks of talks from the most recognized speakers in the MySQL world -- the people who run the databases behind Facebook, for example. This is THE annual conference to attend for MySQL users.

One difference this year is that they are focusing more on MySQL, and not trying to make it an event about every open source database.   Full details are at
