Just for Fun Mahjong is for players who know how to play American Mahjong independently and are looking for a friendly, relaxed game without the pressure of advanced or tournament-paced play.

You don't have to be the fastest player at the table or have every strategy figured out. Some players may still be building speed and experience, while others may simply prefer a more relaxed style of play.

This group is a good fit if you:

• Know the basic rules of American Mahjong
• Can read and navigate the current NMJL card
• Can choose and play your own hand independently
• Understand the Charleston, exposures, Jokers and calling for Mahjong
• Don't require guidance throughout the game
• Are comfortable playing with people who may have different playing speeds and styles
• Want to enjoy Mahjong without worrying about being "advanced"

This is independent social play rather than a teaching session, so there is no instruction or guided strategy during the game. Of course, we're all human — an occasional question or "Wait, can I do that?" happens at every Mahjong table! 😄

There is no fee for Just for Fun Mahjong.

The emphasis here is exactly what the name says: having fun. Come enjoy the tiles, the conversation, a little friendly competition, and the company of other Mahjong players.
