Lu Jong, Tibetan Yogic Practices
Shambhala Center at Young Place, 118/79 Young Place, Sukhumvit Soi 23, 3rd Floor, Bangkok, al, THThis is a 3 part class series about Lu Jong: Tibetan Five Elements Yoga Practices. Dates: May 10, May 24 and June 7.
Lu Jong: Tibetan Five Elements Yoga Practices — The Foundation of the Practice
In the Lu Jong tradition, the Tibetan Five Elements Practices offer an essential gateway to harmonizing body, energy, and mind. Rooted in Tibetan medicine and Buddhist teachings, they aim to restore a fundamental balance that supports physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Unlike other systems, it is important to clarify that in this context we refer to Lung — a Tibetan term often translated as “wind,” but which primarily denotes the principle of movement. It should not be understood as the element “air,” as found in Indian or Chinese traditions, but rather as a dynamic force responsible for circulation, breath, thoughts, and emotions. The Five Elements in Lu Jong — space, wind (Lung), fire, water, and earth — are not merely symbolic concepts; they are directly experienced through the body. Each movement works simultaneously on the energetic channels, the organs, and inner states, allowing for a progressive and profound transformation. Lu Jong is structured into two levels, consisting of 21 and 15 movements respectively. In this series of three workshops, we will explore a carefully selected set of practices specifically oriented toward balancing the Five Elements, which form the essential foundation for further practice. Beyond a purely physical approach, these exercises invite a subtle reconnection with the natural laws within us, opening a space of stability, clarity, and presence.

Café Shambhala: Reading & Meditation
Shambhala Center at Young Place, 118/79 Young Place, Sukhumvit Soi 23, 3rd Floor, Bangkok, al, THJoin us for a meditation, reading and discussion class every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm - 8pm. Join by Google Meet or attend the class in person at the Shambhala Center.
This weekly event includes group meditation, followed by reading of a chapter from the current book, followed by group discussion on the material, plus refreshments and social time at the end.
Readings and discussions are based on the book, "The Essence of Buddhism: An Introduction to Its Philosophy and Practice" by Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche. This lucid overview of the Buddhist path takes the perspective of the three "vehicles" of Tibetan Buddhism: the Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. While these vehicles are usually presented as a historical development, they are here equated with the attitudes that individuals bring to their Buddhist practice. Basic to them all, however, is the need to understand our own immediate condition. The primary tool for achieving this is meditation, and The Essence of Buddhism serves as a handbook for the various meditative approaches of Buddhist practice.
Beginning with the Four Noble Truths, Traleg Rinpoche incorporates the expansive vision of the bodhisattva path and the transformative vision of Tantra. The final chapters present the transcendent view of Mahamudra. This view dispenses with all dualistic fixations and directly realizes the natural freedom of the mind itself.
This is a drop-in class. No previous attendance, registration, or fee is required. Donations are always appreciated, but not mandatory.
