The receiving lotus is a festival that has been held by Mon people for many decades. This is an ancient tradition that began on the 13th of the waxing moon of the 11th month. Then the next day, the 14th day of the waxing moon of the 11th month will be Lotus receiveing Day. There was a story that the Mon people will sail to Ban Bang Phli by boat along with various musical instruments such as fiddles, bassoons, tones, tambourines, kraops, cymbals, etc. On the night of the 13th day of the waxing moon, Thai people in Bang Phli village will prepare food along with collecting lotus flowers to welcome the Mon people. The next morning, the Mon people would sail out to receive lotus flowers from the Thai people. At first, they would hand each other lotus flowers hand to hand. Later, some were thrown to each other until it became "Rab Bua or receiving lotus and yYon Bua or Throwing lotus. The festival has been passed on until the present day.
