About us
A group for talking about philosophy, scrutinizing new philosophy papers, and arguing with friends.
Our one rule: you must remain firmly seated in your armchair! This means avoiding using specific real world evidence to justify a position unless everyone agrees the evidence is true. It's best to argue from generic hypothetical examples. The most meaningful truths don't require empirical justification.
We meet in Realms Arcade in Boise on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM. Come check us out!

Relationships After Death
Realms Arcade, 109 S 23rd St Ste A, Boise, ID 83702, USA, Boise, ID, USThis meeting is about death and obligations. Is a commitment still valid if the person it's made to dies? And if so, how? The initial topic is from the Spring 2026 edition of the Aporia philosophy Journal.
You can get the paper we will be scrutinizing ahead of time right here: https://aporia.byu.edu/pdfs/franchitti-i_owe_it_to_her.pdf
The plan is to go over the paper and then discuss the topic. Afterward we can have a more free-form conversation.
