Silent tragedy becomes a gripping story of desire and destruction. G. W. Pabstâs Pandoraâs Box (Die BĂźchse der Pandora) follows Lulu, played by Louise Brooks, whose charm and sensuality unsettle both men and women around her. Countess Geschwitz stands out as one of early cinemaâs first explicitly queer female characters, portrayed with striking depth for its time. As Luluâs relationships spiral into obsession, jealousy, and violence, she drifts through a series of increasingly precarious situations.
