About us
A lot of good work is being done from Barcelona to address global development issues. This group serves as a space where those involved in international development work and living in Barcelona or surrounding areas can commune, share, and socialize.
The goal of the group is to serve as a hub for people working in areas of social justice, global health, sustainable development, international education, human rights, environment and establish a Barcelona-based network of sustainable development professionals.

Why Gender Matters: Empowered Women, Resilient Communities
Ocana, Plaza Reial, Barcelona, ESOur monthly meetup is back and this time we’re diving into one of the most powerful drivers of sustainable development: gender equality.
Join us for a networking evening at the beautiful Ocaña on Plaça Reial, bringing together professionals and advocates for meaningful conversations and new connections.
What happens when women and girls are truly placed at the center of development? Evidence shows that investing in their education and empowerment doesn’t just reduce inequality: it strengthens economies, builds resilient communities, and drives more sustainable outcomes across sectors.
In this session, Daniela Padilla, Clothilde Bruneton, and Alba Romero from the international NGO Street Child will share insights from the field, exploring:
- How gender inequality shapes poverty and access to education
- Why investing in women delivers some of the highest-impact development outcomes
- What it takes to turn global commitments into real, local change
We’ll also open the discussion to reflect on current development priorities and how different actors — from NGOs to governments to the private sector — can accelerate progress.
Format:
- 30-minute expert talk / Presentation
- Interactive discussion & Q&A
- Networking drinks
Who should come?
- Private sector professionals exploring impact & ESG
- Public sector and development practitioners
- NGO, research, and policy professionals
- Anyone interested in global development and meaningful conversations
