What we're about

Membership of Basingstoke Friends is open to working professionals and those with similar interests in the Basingstoke & North Hampshire area. Our members are keen to try new things, socialise, make friends and enjoy a great social life.

We are not a dating or singles group. Our members are a mix of mostly single people with quite a few couples as well.

Our Silver Membership is FREE to join and gives you access to our public and prospective member events. It also allows you to attend all our public events and the Basingstoke Science Cafe.

The Science Cafe offers in-person and online talks on science, nature, climate change and technology ... and all for the price of a coffee. The requested donation of £3 goes towards paying for any speaker travel and other expenses plus our web site and administration costs.

Our special Gold Membership is only £2 per month and is paid annually. This includes Events and Liability Insurance so you can organise and host your own social and leisure activities in the club diary. Gold Members can also attend all the clubs private and member only activities. Plus you also get the chance to book into the national events, weekends and holidays organised by other groups from our UK network of 34 similar groups with around 3000 members.

Applications are made online, following these simple guidelines. You just need to answer a few simple questions to qualify for the free Silver Membership of Basingstoke Friends. We encourage prospective Gold members to have attended at least three events before making an application so we have had the chance to meet you.

We will ask you to join this Meetup group and register for Silver Membership with your proper first name (no code names permitted) and an email address so we can send you a membership application form. Plus you must have a photo that is up to date and clearly of you and preferably a head and shoulders shot (no pictures of scenery, pets or cartoons.) The reason a photo is required is so that we can recognise you at events. If you want to be anonymous, then this group is not for you.

More details about Basingstoke Friends and Basingstoke Science Cafe are available on our main web sites at the addresses below:

Please RSVP when you plan to attend or watch any event whether in-person or online so other members know to look out for you. For the enjoyment of everybody (so that people aren’t searching for you), please amend your RSVP if you cannot attend, giving as much notice as you can.

If you haven't visited our Meetup group in the last 6 months and are not known to the organisers, we will remove you from the group. If this happens and you are still interested in Basingstoke Friends, then please click the "Join Us" link again and come along to an event to introduce yourself.

As a member of this group you should be aware that your Meetup profile & attendance at events is recorded by Meetup. This means Meetup will process this data for their own purposes. Basingstoke Friends does not have any control over how your data might be used by meetup.
