Potrero Hill is having its 50th annual R&B festival this Saturday, and it should be lots of fun! There's 2 stages with performances from local artists along with other entertainment. (and possibly local food vendors?) The event runs from 10-4 so you can arrive anytime you want, but I'll likely be there sometime around 1:30-2:30.

Finding people
We've done events at festivals/local concerts before, and it's been nearly impossible to find people in the past. This event is likely biger than the ones we've gone to in the past, so expect it to be even harder to find other people here than at other events. To set realistic expectations, finding specific people from this meetup group will be tough :( However, this is an event where you'll have fun even if you don't meet other people from our group and the 🎶 vibes 🎶 will be great, so you'll still have fun!

The Potrero Hill R&B Festival returns on Saturday, October 18th from 10am-4pm. Join us as we celebrate local artists, musicians, and the history of Potrero Hill. The festival benefits the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House (NABE), a multi-purpose, multi-generation community house designed by Julia Morgan in operation for over a century. The festival takes place on 20th Street, spanning 4 blocks between Wisconsin Street and Missouri Street.

With two main stages for live music and more than one hundred arts, crafts, food and local services vendors, the Potrero Hill R&B Festival is a toe-tapping, family-friendly good time. Enjoy the music, and feel good knowing you’re also supporting the neighborhood’s public schools and community center while dancing, cheering on a talent show, listening to guest speakers, or chasing after your young ones among carnival games, rides, and bounce houses. Bay Area stalwarts Pride & Joy and The Klipptones are two of the many main stage performers booked for the festival.

Getting there
Try taking public transportation, because the local streets will be closed AND there are a bunch of other events going on in the city on Saturday (Dog Fest in Presidio, San Francisco Photobook Fair in Duboce Triangle, Fall Harvest Festival near Bayview, Bearrison Street Fair in SoMa, Hexen Festival in Hayes Valley, Punk Majesty Art Show near Nob Hill, and Sunset Secondhand Mercantile Market in Sunset), so driving will be a pain.

There are a couple routes that take you to Connecticut Street & 19th (which is a block away from the event), but you'll need to figure out how to get there.

If you're taking BART, you can get off at the Civic Center stop and take the 19 Polk route south.

If you're taking Caltrain, you can get off at 22nd Street Station and walk over to the event, which is 4-5 blocks away.

SAFETY DISCLAIMER
The organizers of this meet-up are unpaid volunteers and not expert guides. All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and recognize that possible hazards exist while participating in outdoor (or any other) activities, and agree to participate solely at their own risk. If you RSVP “Yes” and/or attend any of our events, it shall be conclusively presumed that you understand and agree to this policy.

If you didn't read all of this, go back and at least read the second paragraph! Mainly, keep in mind that finding people from this Meetup group will be difficult in a large open event like this where people are constantly moving. I'll leave the comments open to allow people to try to find each other, but you've been warned! Finding people will be tricky if you've never met them before, so come into this with the mindset that you'll meet people but not necessarily people from this group.
