What we’re about

This is a Black LGBTQ+ led group. ALL Black folks are welcome, AND marginalized Black QT perspectives will be prioritized.

Calling all Bay Area Black folks who love Sci-fi and Fantasy TV and Film with Black central characters and Black themes! Join us as we come together to celebrate our love for all things AfroFuturistic science fiction on the small and big screens. Whether you're a fan of TV shows like SupaCell or films like They Cloned Tyrone, this group is the perfect space to connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion.

Our group celebrates representation in the genre and provides a space for fans to meet, watch scifi, share recommendations, and explore the intersection of race, sexuality, and speculative fiction. Whether you're a seasoned SciFi enthusiast or new to the genre, we invite you to geek out with us and discover new favorites. Let's come together to celebrate creative diversity and to amplify our voices and visions in SciFi TV and film.

At its heart, the group is about:
Kinship + Community — Building bonds across the diaspora through shared stories and cosmic imagination.

Representation + Reflection — Centering Black Folks, particularly Black queer and trans characters, creators, and narratives that are often erased or overlooked in speculative media.

Visioning Futures — Using Afrofuturism as a lens to imagine liberation, healing, and expansive futures rooted in ancestral wisdom.

Dual Gatherings — A rhythm of weekly online sessions (for accessibility and continuity) and monthly in-person circles at QAC Gallery in Oakland (for embodied connection).
The vibe is both intimate and infinite: like gathering around a fire that just happens to be a galaxy, where everyone is invited to bring their brilliance, curiosity, and visions of tomorrow.
