Childfree & Screen-free: Silent Reading with Book Oracle

Join us for a calm, screen-free Valentine’s Day alternative at the library — a chance to slow down, read quietly, and connect with fellow childfree folks in a gentle, low-pressure way. No romance required.

Bring a book you’re currently reading, something you’ve been meaning to start, or simply browse the library and let a book choose you ✨

Event flow:

• 📖 First hour: Silent reading together
• 💬 Second hour: Light sharing + optional group activity

During the second hour, you’re welcome (but not required) to share a little about what you’re reading — or just listen. We’ll also have the option to play a fun, playful group game called Book Oracle.

What’s Book Oracle?
Inspired by tarot and bibliomancy, Book Oracle uses our books — and a bit of collective imagination — to explore questions about life in a lighthearted way. A volunteer may ask a question (anything from playful to reflective), another member randomly opens a book, and together we interpret the line that appears. It’s meant to be fun, creative, and connective — not serious or predictive.
Questions can be light, abstract, or personal — totally your choice. You’re also welcome to simply observe or help interpret without asking a question yourself.
